Ocean Flowerbed - The 31x31x36 (cm) nano tank

Recommended Posts

Very beautiful tank from a pretty maid.

Lots of imagination and ideas translated solidly into a real colorful reef world.

With an equally artistic bf, and an insane thirst for beauty , this reef tank has yet to reach its best.

A small branch of shocking pink bonsai bird nest would certainly add to the colour of your tank.

You know where you can get it from...

Cheers,

What a wonderfully written post from the most gracious reefer I know. Your reply is very encouraging, thank you very much, Uncle Mike. A burst of colour sounds like a plan. I'm sure arrangements can be made in the near future. :) :) :) You tank is my inspiration.

It's our favourite time of the week again, reefers! And I'm once again due for another entry to track my progress.

Got myself a tiny wave maker. It's about as tiny as they make them. I'm grateful that someone out there thinks about nano reefers. :D

post-22774-13713130421657_thumb.jpg

Met up with a few reefers over the past few days and ended up bringing home little plastic containers. You guys know how that goes...

This update will be a fisheye/macro edition. Thanks to my boyfriend who bought me a little 3-in-1 lens for my iPhone. Since I have a compulsive need to take pictures of almost everything, he bought me this nifty gadget. Looks like a downsized professional lens.

post-22774-13713116641744_thumb.jpg

It seems like everything I do nowadays is nano-centric...

First up...

Pink bird nest from Uncle Mike! The pink is quite an explosion. Yes yes, this is under LED but even under normal room light it was luminous. You can tell how much care our resident yellowtang puts into his SPS.

Emerald on Fire zoas from the friendly Anthony. Possibly my favourite zoas at the moment.

post-22774-13713136389896_thumb.jpg

And a tiny fish that makes me laugh every time I see him resting on my sand bed. The gold neon pygmy goby. Only 8 bucks but a whole lotta joyyyyyyyy.

Isn't he funny. Hahaha. This guy is a riot.

Here's a somewhat clearer picture. Taken at Marine Life.

post-22774-13713146108165_thumb.jpg

Also got myself another piece of chalice. From a very nice reefer. His tank is just nuts.

post-22774-13713146962214_thumb.jpg

Not sure what it is though, can anyone ID it for me?

Today's FTS. Fisheye style. How apt huh.

post-22774-13713148299307_thumb.jpg

Ok I'll end off this entry with pictures I took to test my lens. Yes, now I'm just showing off my new toy. The first few were taken at Marine Life. GOODNIGHT REEFERS!

Happy Friday reefers!

Although "happy" is a rather strong word for a PSI 400 day. Look out your window. We're in a 1950s war film set.

Ohhhhhhhh my poor outdoor tank. Sob. I don't know how much the acrylic cover can mitigate the haze. Hang in there livestock. We'll tide over this together.

Haze or no haze, I sit outdoors every night to survey my tiny ocean. And last night, there were a couple of newcomers to the tank.

post-22774-13717903588897_thumb.jpg

Some highlighter green SPS frag that I unfortunately don't know the name of. Yes I'm living on the edge and trying out a few frags of SPS. They were all given to me by very very kind reefers.

Radioactive birdnest. Like a furry light stick.

Red digitatatatatatatatatatatatata.

post-22774-13717906508189_thumb.jpg

That is a very bad picture, I am aware. Haha. I forgot to take a shot of it. This was from another picture so I cropped the fella out.

And before some of you freak out about water temperature and all that jazz...

post-22774-1371795100886_thumb.jpg

I got myself a chiller that's bigger than my tank. Tried my best to make space for it. Transformed my patio into a battlefield.

post-22774-13717954088222_thumb.jpg

Turns out the ice probe isn't working as efficiently as I'd hoped. My tank is outdoors and the temperature fluctuates in tandem with our erratic weather. It can't keep up. It'll be ideal for indoors though. When the weather was cooler about a month back it worked really well.

So I'm selling it. Bought it for SGD260 and I'm letting go at SGD200. If anyone's interested, let me know!

It's the weekend again. If you're heading out to the farms, wear your masks. See you all soon, ninja reefers.

FYI, your surgical mask not useful to this haze. Try to get your hands on those N95.

And yes stay indoors. Crazy weather outside.

Nonetheless good upgrade. Care to share the flow rate of the pump sending the water through it?

Happy Reefing,

Marc J.

I'm using an Eheim600. So 600L/hr.

Like the way u update and show-off ur LS. Very different angle from us, male reefers.

Keep going! Your "wardrobe" will soon get upgraded. Haha.

Haha thanks thanks. Although I'm on a self-imposed shopping ban at the moment. Will wait till payday to "upgrade the wardrobe".

Lelong lelong!

WANT TO SELL:

2x black foot. Pair.

FOR ADOPTION:

2x common clown. Pair.

$20 for everything.

The black foots have some black patches on them because they tried to host my octo. The patches will disappear over time, like they did my common clowns. Healthy otherwise!

Everyone is stable. They feed on pellets and frozen food.

Clearest pictures I could take. We all know how hard it is to take stills of fidgety fish. Haha

Doing a bit of crowd control here.

Let me know soonest, thanks!

IT'S JULY, REEFERS!

That means we're more than halfway through the year. Time is a scary thing.

But time has also been maturing my tank and stabilizing my livestock. Which is great!

Haven't been posting because of the lack of... Time.

But here's a quick one.

Got myself an Elegance from Aquamarin.

post-22774-13726534601201_thumb.jpg

Pretty cool. Blue bubble tips.

Candy Cane from GO. $40 per frag, big or small. Thought it was pretty reasonable.

post-22774-13726535204625_thumb.jpg

post-22774-1372653601463_thumb.jpg

And from the same GO trip, a withering pink gonio frag. We asked if we could have it for free since it looked like death.

post-22774-13726540492469_thumb.jpg

That was last week. I took this last night:

post-22774-13726562781687_thumb.jpg

Looks promising yes? :D I'll have a word with it soon. Everyone needs a little encouragement.

Fluorescent pink yuma. Also from GO.

post-22774-13726565276302_thumb.jpg

My SPS collection is slowly growing. Green Milli given by a reefer.

post-22774-13726567235939_thumb.jpg

Rock anemone from Marine Life. Waiting for it to open up nicely. Great colour.

post-22774-13726567558709_thumb.jpg

Pay day was a couple of days ago... So... You know... :D :D :D

See you all soon!

Elegance will expand quite big if given enough space, think it too close to some of ur other corals especially ur pink gonio.
