Can these injured corals be restored?

Hi bros,

Need some advice on whether these injured corasl be restored?

I do not know the exact causes of them deteriorating but I do have other corals which are still healthy and striving...

1) Green bleaching mushroom - was doing well for weeks and suddenly it starts to deteriorate although I never disturb its position...

2) Hammer - when I bought it from GO, it was blooming. Only when I took it out from the bag, I noticed one part had already died off and it began to spread...

3) Zoas - also used to be striving for 1 - 2 months, then suddenly the polyps are no longer extending out fully...I observed for a couple of weeks and decided to change its location but it didnt work...slowly slowly gone...

Any advice bro? Can they be recovered or should I give up on them?

What is your water parameter? Any visible pest like nudi? How big is your tank and the lighting you are using?

I had a similar problem with my hammer once. Eventually everything dissolved

Your green mushrooms might have bleached from the high light (is your maxspect razor new or did you change timing etc?) and recent hot weather that causes the water temperature to rise too high, especially if you do not have a chiller. If they are completely bleached, they no longer have any zooxanthellae and will always look sickly since they can no longer make their own food. If there's still some zooxanthellae, they will recover if conditions improve. You can temporarily move it into the shade.

The hammer coral probably has brown jelly disease that will spread to other healthy corals. I would throw it away if I were you. But if you want to try to save it, you can dip it in Lugol's solution and see if it improves. If it continues to melt, throw it away immediately. A hammer that I bought from GO previously had 2 heads. One head melted in my office aquarium but the remaining one survived.

As for Zoas, their reaction could be due to the high nitrates although I doubt so. Do a water change, dose iodine and place it nearer the light to see if it recovers. If there is presence of Zoa eating nudibranchs, pick the pests out, dip the Zoas and monitor again.

bro, i also bought before hammer from GO with brown jelly disease. Dunno by luck or what but managed to save the hammer and the BJD never seen again. 1st thing to do is to immediately incrase the flow around the hammer to "blow" away the jelly stuff... Throw in lots of active carbon and phosphate adsorber to your system. Water quality must be very good. maintain for a month and the BJD gone and never seen again...

my experience with zoas is that very hard to save one.. no matter what i do, its a slow and sure death....

Which makes me wonder, how do so many reefers have such beautiful Zoas and keep them multiplying? What's the secret? Can any successful Zoas keeper bros care to enlighten us?

lol.. most of my zoas are oke and can multiple but i think different types thrive in different environments.. for me, i seem to have no luck with pink types! after a few weeks/months, always waste away....

1. Still can recover.

2. Throw away, no hope left
