chongk
Hi everyone, Where do you normally place your pratas? Is it OK to put on live rock, or better to be on the sand bed? Thanks!
Gouldian
I prefer to be on the sandbed with low flow. Quote "Reefs, like forests, will only be protected in long term if they are appreciated" Dr. J.E.N. SRC Member peacemaker Posted May 2, 2013 SRC Member Share Posted May 2, 2013 While we are on this topic, is it necessary to feed it? I don't seem to have any success with this while other corals thrive without issues.
Gouldian
I feel that they need to be fed periodically especially in a low nutrient tank. I have several experiences where by I stopped feeding and they slowly succumb in a low nutrient tank. Gouldian
Eh Gouldian > What rubbish... the best place to put the "Pratas" is in our stomachs lah!!! LOL LOL, I re-phrase. I prefer those with eggs and from the LFS in Upper Thomson and to go with Chicken Curry. Quote "Reefs, like forests, will only be protected in long term if they are appreciated" Dr. J.E.N. chongk
Ok, got it. Pratas with eggs (and cheese, and onions, sardines, etc. etc) - place in stomach. Pratas from LFS on sandbed.
SRC Member brojj Posted May 5, 2013 SRC Member Share Posted May 5, 2013 I put my 3 'ex' pratas on the sand, under direct light, all died. Current one under part shady part bright spot on the sand & it has survived for almost 10 months already. No feeding of solid food, i boardcast feed 'coral 5 in 1' food to it.<br /><br />Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2<br /><br />

SRC Member james72 Posted June 20, 2013 SRC Member Share Posted June 20, 2013 Prata can position on rock or sandbed as long as sufficient area for them to spread and dont accumulate detritus. Low flow to medium flow is preferred. I dont feed my prata and they are doing well for the past one year just depending on indirect light. Observe the colours and opening, if they do not open well or if their colours bleach, change a position The flow or the light might be too strong for its liking. Dose just a little iodine can help in "repair" and colours recovery. SRC Member Aquareef123 Posted February 11, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted February 11, 2014 Yes, u can place them on bb glass base. But they won't be very stable right? Prata has a base that looks like an cone. It sits nicely on sand but on glass top it rocks back and forth.

Or any alternative is to place in btwn ur LR. Quote Display Tank : 36" x 20" x 20" Herbie overflow box design, Sump : 36" x 21" x 17", Frag Tank : 16” x 20” x 16”, custom built by Tank Culture.
