Best location to place prata

Where do you normally place your pratas?

Is it OK to put on live rock, or better to be on the sand bed?

I prefer to be on the sandbed with low flow.

While we are on this topic, is it necessary to feed it? I don't seem to have any success with this while other corals thrive without issues.

I feel that they need to be fed periodically especially in a low nutrient tank.

I have several experiences where by I stopped feeding and they slowly succumb in a low nutrient tank.

LOL, I re-phrase.

I prefer those with eggs and from the LFS in Upper Thomson and to go with Chicken Curry.

yeah low flow areas is key i think, my other prata like corals started to show skeletons in the high flow areas

Pratas with eggs (and cheese, and onions, sardines, etc. etc) - place in stomach.

Pratas from LFS on sandbed.

I put my 3 'ex' pratas on the sand, under direct light, all died. Current one under part shady part bright spot on the sand & it has survived for almost 10 months already. Normally from what i know Prata is supposed to put on sand bed and not to high flow.

Prata can position on rock or sandbed as long as sufficient area for them to spread and dont accumulate detritus. Low flow to medium flow is preferred. I dont feed my prata and they are doing well for the past one year just depending on indirect light. Observe the colours and opening, if they do not open well or if their colours bleach, change a position The flow or the light might be too strong for its liking. Dose just a little iodine can help in "repair" and colours recovery.

Actually pratas can take strong light n current also...but they must be season in your tank...n your water condition must be good too...I personally got one prata with strong light n strong current too...and its doing very well...

Pratas Love Shaded Area..try put on your dsb and feed weekly..i feed weekly with Table shrimp..and also supplement with silversides..they need haevy feedings in low nutrient tanks like all lps corals..

Yes, u can place them on bb glass base.

But they won't be very stable right? Prata has a base that looks like an cone. It sits nicely on sand but on glass top it rocks back and forth.

U can put it in a PVC pipe. I saw in some reefer's tank before. They usually DIY a rack or something to place their corals. Or any alternative is to place in btwn ur LR.

I have experiemented with plates and brains before...i would say that if prefers to be on the sand bed instead on being on top of a live rock
