What is stn? slow tissue necrosis?

I have been supplementing ALK recently and that helped "revived" one of the dying frag (my earlier posting).

Could this caused this SPS to die?

Just did a test before water change.

API reef master test kit

Calcium 460ppm

ALK 12-13 dKH

Phosphate 0

Nitrate 0

Ammonia 0

PH 8.2/8.4

Salinity 1.024

Red Sea reef foundation test kit

Calcium 420ppm

ALK 10.6 dKH

Magnesium 1520ppm

2 weeks ago, the ALK was around 7 so I started to supplement it.

I had also changed my salt mix from Red Sea Salt to Red Sea Coral Pro Salt (also 2 weeks ago).

I witness majority of the corals are looking good with PE.

Pardon my biases against API so i will just look at ur red sea test results, kh seems a little too high for comfort... I prefer looking at a balance range so with a CA of 420, ur balance kh is 8.25 dkh... U are at 10+ so u either bring down ur kh or up ur CA, ur choice

Balance and stability is key so any adjustments should be slow and progressive. Major changes can shock ur corals.

Btw, u should really consider getting a test kit to test low range PO4 & NO3. PO4 should be kept around the 0.03ppm and for NO3 as undetectable as possible.

0 reading on both is worrying but if u are serious about it, go invest is at least the salifert po4 & no3 teat kits la

Yeah... I have to agree... API test kit is a waste of time as it is always 0 and the colour don't match any on the card

Since I am using Red Sea was also considering PO4 & NO3 test kits from them. Any comments?

Or u can give D-D H2ocean test kit a try. I think their no3 and po4 test kits are quite accurate.

I will start supplementing Calcium. Hopefully, it will recover soon. Otherwise, someone will need to save it.

Just test my calcium is 450ppm. STN is getting worst. From 2 branches, it has 5 now. Am willing to give it to anyone who can save it.

Bro slow changes... 30ppm in a day is a bit drastic in my opinion... Hang in there, moving it to another tank may further stress the guy out

Thanks for the encouragement. On the bright side. Just noticed the biggest piece of aiptasia in my tank has vanished. Hopefully the many tiny ones will vanish soon too.

I will now focus on keeping the rest of the frags growing...

Will be dosing Red Sea Reef Energy A & B and NO3:PO4-X (reducer) over the next week to improve my tank...

Will also continue supplementing Red Sea Reef Foundation A & B (Calcium & Alkalinity)...

Will report back after a week... Hoping for the best...

ur nitrate is 0 and po4 is in reasonable range, you do no need to use nopox, may even have bad effects.. i personally do not like 0 nitrate, i keep mine at 2. you should feed more or your corals will starve.

You are spot on... I was worried about my nitrates so I will feed only once a week (target feed as little as possible) and do a water change immediately after feeding.

I am doing water changes twice a week and it is starting to get tiring...

Bro, if u intend to go full swing into sps in future, its better to invest in a good coral clipper/cutter. Sps will grow and when they r overgrown, e.g. Reaching water surface of the tank, touching nearby corals, u will need to trim in order to maintain ur sps. Happy reefing!!

lol... quite impossible for mine to reach water surface... growth rate abt 0.1-0.2cm every mth.
