SRC Member sunny03 Posted April 25, 2013 SRC Member Share Posted April 25, 2013 It will cost you a lot more if you going to use 1 pc of glass for the L shape.. double the price of a normal tank. I asked before. .... I would prefer to have a 2ft in length for the drop off. Easy maintenance and easy scapeing. . Think of the pipeline and how to prevent dead spot at the drop off 1 Quote Selling big game fishing equipment. Kayakkite
Place outlet skimming at bottom to provide better circulation. Note that piping needs to route back top of tank water level before return to sump, to prevent flooding. Nice design.

gargamelron
it is purely for design purpose? or anything to do with the nature of reef? My intentions is to have the drop off all the way down to the ground with natural cliff look. SRC Member peacemaker Posted April 26, 2013 SRC Member Share Posted April 26, 2013 What are your plans for the cabinet? The weight distribution will be different, so the workmanship of the cabinet maker will be critical.
MarcoVan
why not acrylic? Quote Happy Reefing, Marc J.
SRC Member sunny03 Posted April 26, 2013 SRC Member Share Posted April 26, 2013 Maybe will add wavemaker at the bottom similar to the pic. Is that a mp wavemaker or close loop at the bottom. If using mp wavemaker you need to open a hole at the cabinet for the mp dry side.. .. maybe I drill two hole and attch locline for another return pump for thedeep side. If you going for sandbed also need to add a pc of glass at the edge to prevent sand dropping to the deeper end Quote Selling big game fishing equipment. gargamelron
why not acrylic? Acrylic will cost a bomb in local market. Not easy to maintains also. Terryz_
Been there, It will cost you close to 5k for the tank setup alone.. And not to mention that it is high risk to use glass a slight miscalculation with the cabinet, you will end up with a leaking tank in the future.. So I went for a 4x3x3 instead since I am replicating deepwater habitat anyway.. Quote Member of:

SRC Member Ahhyi Posted April 29, 2013 SRC Member Share Posted April 29, 2013 I would probably make a 5ft by 3ft by 6ft tank. Then I'll use either acrylic or tons of live rock to create the cliff look. I think some pple use plaster or Paris or something similar to create scapes
SRC Member Ahhyi Posted April 29, 2013 SRC Member Share Posted April 29, 2013 Oh yah. U can still custom make the cabinet to Block of part of the tank to have the L shape look
