hi all,

got a question, i intend to start a 3x2x2 tank and becoz i want to keep my budget low, i intend to use 2x Weipro 2012 plus a Dymax 2500L/hr as skimmers to my tank inside the sump... wat do u guys tink... reason being, i tink the H&S abit costly and my feeling is dat if i use 2 Weipro 2012s, the performance might not be too bad as compared to the H&S Skimmer... or maybe i was wrong... anyone can advise?

I also read another thread regarding the Marine Sources skimmer, if i use that, (budget around $200-300) is it really going to be far superior to my 2xWeipro setup? or comparable? Pls advise...

Vincent Ho :thanks:

Wouldnt using just one 2014 be more effective and cheaper to run?

Rather than using 2 2012. Just use one 2014. with the increase height of the riser tube, contact time increase tremendeously making much more effective. It is rate for 150 gallon and more than enough for ya 3x2x2 tank.

hi rav

currently me using aa brand looks fine with your same tank size...

ciao!

AA is under skimming even for a 2ft. No where near the efficiency of a 2011 not to mention a 2013 or 2014. It is like comparing a 2011 with a HSA Skimmer thats 8 inches in dia and 6ft high!!

IMO weipro skimmer is abit overated.... IMO a 2014 is for tank ard 3 feet

yeah, on top of the extra electricity consumption, more heat is produced as well - something that all reefers are trying to minimize.... :)

actually if you put your skimmer outside and use a Eheim dual (internal & external) pump outside, you'll not worry about heat..

Why do we use "My 2 cents worth" when 1 cents are not legal tender in Singapore anymore? Shouldn't it be 5 cents worth?
