Findings of effects of MH on clams color

I unintentionally found this effect MH have on clams colors. Thought I will share it will fellow reefers if they are interested. About a mth ago I was fortunate enough to be able to obtain a deresa clam. Only problem is that the clam has already lost its color.

Photo taken. About 1 mth ago. Obvious color loss.

After about 1 mth of using MH on it color return back.

Notice the left side of the clam. There is a difference in the color. It seems the color of the mantle in that area color has not improved from the day I got it.

This is because that small area of the mantle is often folded becoz of my wavemaker. I haven since readjust my flow to color up that spot.

It's like covering part of you while tanning.

I know it's basic knowledge that light combine with good water parameters will intensify a clams color. I'm just sharing what I feel is interesting.

Btw I'm using 2x 250w 14k phoenix bulbs when pictures are taken

For me , MH still the best lighting for reef tank ...

a pic can tell how my squamosa grow and color up under 250W ushio 10kk even water parameter is not tat good and never feeding too ...

Very true, MH still the best for clams. Will have news for your gigas soon, hopefully they have 100pcs.
