SRC Member Blenny Posted February 3, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted February 3, 2004 I think H & S is over over price now
weileong
with made in china products, many non-china made ones would look over-priced. Quote Weileong's 4ft tank Part I Weileong's 4ft tank Part II
SRC Member Blenny Posted February 3, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted February 3, 2004 I think aqua medic skimmers are relatively affordable as compared to H&S. Both comes from europe but the former has not increased price yet. If not wrong they are cheaper
SRC Member Coral_ClamS Posted February 3, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted February 3, 2004 ch*na-made products do not seem to have as much popularity with the locals nor do they have good reviews from few of our reefers though lower on price. yi fen qian yi fen huo meaning u pay for what u get
roidan
yeah..and the aquamedic turbofloter also use needlewheel leh...and seems equally good on paper..but the price almost double in difference..hehe Quote Advanced Aquarist (March05)
weileong
is the price increased due to the EURO which is at an all time high? Previously old stock so can sell at cheaper price. SRC Member Tanggy Posted February 3, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted February 3, 2004 For me, HSA (high speed aeration) is the best. Most efficient in removing dirt. AquaC thought would be the best of the choices here is similar but much smaller and employs induction to create bubbles. HSA comes in much higher riser and much high flow rate. But running cost higher la as they require pressure rated pump ranging from 1000gallon / hour or more.
Achilles Tang
Hmmm... beckett skimmers are not inside. They are considered the best skimmers but are not cheap to run.
RAV-65
Can someone advise the price range of the Aqua C EV skimmer? so far it seems that it's the most popular choice... those who are using it, pls share some feedback if you can... thanxs! SRC Member riot Posted February 3, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted February 3, 2004 I really like my Ev120. Small and neat under my sump, collection cup easy to remove and clean. No or little maintenance on the injector (according to the manual). Foams nicely.
weileong
No need to tweak the EV too much. Get the correct pump, plug in and fire up. Set water level to the recommended level with the gate valve, adjust the gate valve to get the desired skimmate you want and youre done. Nice, dark, thick and super dry kopi-O. You want?? roidan
actually with regards to needlewheel, i feel that deltec is the best, but other than eaquanature, where else got sell ah.... those deltec stuff like very exclusive like that Quote Advanced Aquarist (March05)
SRC Member Maxima Posted February 4, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted February 4, 2004 Best - than don't nag about $ Model Capacity & sizing AeroFoamer -Beckett - Take OEM rating divide by 2 H&S - Take OEM rating divide by 3 Deltec - Take OEM rating divide by 3 Schuran - Take OEM rating divide by 3 Max
Achilles Tang
Max. How did you come up with an OEM rating for beckett skimmers? All beckett skimmers are based on the beckett foam fountainhead... there is no 'real' commercial beckett skimmer.... everyone of them is more or less a DIY'ed one. Dispar_Anthias
Hmm wonder why you guys did not choose euro- reef, h&S works almost the same way as the euro reef and i reckon is because h&s is more easily available(from our friendly lfs, SL  ) and also most huge euro reef skimmer's foot print is way to large for our sump. SRC Member Coral_ClamS Posted February 10, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted February 10, 2004 are AquaC Ev considered as beckett since got injector(dunno what's the injector) which can suck in so much air...
Terryz_
AquaC EV is spray injector... Quote Member of:
SRC Member tigershark Posted February 10, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted February 10, 2004 still prefer Macro..... value for money, suitable for budget buyer like me Quote Want to know more about my tank? Follow here!!
DeepBlue
I guess most prefer H&S because it is so simple to set it up....a plug and play piece of equipment that provides quality results AquaC is an excellent skimmer, but you got to get a very good pump and know hoe to tune it to work efficiently. I always hear guys over here trying to tune it...something to do witht he water level as well......
roidan
yeah...needle wheel skimmers are more energy saving also...but process water generally slower than spray injectors whereas spray injection like becketts or aquaC need powerful pumps...but water turnover is faster than needlewheels which uses a relatively slower water feed Quote Advanced Aquarist (March05)
SRC Member patrick123 Posted March 26, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted March 26, 2004 I guess everyone has a different opinion of which brand is cost effective and therefore better. Let me ask the question in a different way. If money is no object, and you can spend as much as you want on a skimmer without making your house look like a giant protein skimmer. Which brand of protein skimmer will you go for? 1. H&S? 2. AquaC? 3. Euroreef? 4. Beckett or even dual Beckett? 5. Any others. Thanks, Patrick
