It depend on how you would like to stack your rocks. I am having a 4x2x2.5 and I have 55KG of rock. Only one side of the tank is stack almost about 2 ft high, while the other end is sloping down. I would suggest you make a rock stacker and that will save you abit on the LR. To start with, I would suggest 40KG of LR with LR stackers.

My 4 x 1.5 x 2 tank will be coming in this Wed.... How much #1 sand do I need to buy to acheive a 4inch DSB? :) How to calculate the amount of LR needed also?

Prepare lots of cash if you want grade 1 sand......

I use 50kg for my sump..... 2 by 2.5 ft area.....and only got 3 inches....

;)

and like what clowntrigger mentioned, build live rock stackers... will save you alot when it comes to LR... esp at this period..

soon heng selling $8 for 10KG, I think petmart is selling abit cheaper, like $6.5 -7 for 10KG, need to check with the rest of the guys. BTW, #1 is out of stock for the time being :D they say it will only be available at the end of the months. So anyone would like to share where you can find ready stock for #1 sand? <_< First is LR, then is #1 sand, what will be next?

sand for a 4ftx2 @3" DSB height no.1 sand = 80kg

its $10 per 10kg almost everywhere now.

i just pumped in 55kg & still a looks too little.(Halequin sells them in 5kg bags@$5)

I mixed in some spare quartz riversand & beach silicate sand(i think another 20kg) to soften final cost- laid 1" beneath no.1 so can't see.

LR is completely up to how much u want to spend, the more the merrier.

phang, u didn't mention how much u used for the main 5ft :D $$$$$$
