just wondering... do any of you LPS keepers dose strontium to your tank? see any effects?? Will small amounts of nitrate affect the health of the LPS? My frogspawn doesn't seem to be opening up well as shown in the below picture... The heads nearer to the bottom not opening up as well as the top ones... ANy ideas??? WOuld dosing of Iodide affect the LPS's health?

Its just not getting enough light.

Majority of LPS have a higher tolerate level of Nitrates, as compared to SPS. LPS are generally easier to upkeep as long as you can provide moderate-high lighting with moderate flow and regular water change to replenish any trace elements essential for maintenance.

They also grow slower so calcium and bicarbonate/carbonate, even strontium etc, requirement for growth is not as rigid.

However, as recommended by our resident bulbhead, try to not dose anything which you cannot test economically.

hmmm... are you sure it's the light??? Just a few cm further from the MH will cause such a great deal of difference?? Actually I switched the positioning of it... Flipped it... Meaning the heads that are not opening well use to be nearer to the top... The bottom ones were opening up well so I thought I'd flip... Now still same.. Both getting about tthe same amount of current... Constant but weak current.
