2) Protein skimmer and PH for a 4 footer

3) How much coral chip to be place in the sump compartment ? Price per bag also. ( also wat else is needed inside sump ?) other then DSB/micro algae for refugium.

4) A chiller with a budget of $500 ( maybe resun 450 ....... issit ard this price outside?)

5) Coral sand is abt $10 per 10 kg rite ? How many bags i need for a 4 inc DSB?

6) Roughly how much live rocks i need for a 4 footer ? (*I hve read in the forum on Tank calculation .....but all in lbs ....dunno how to convert )

7) Salt needed for a 4 ft

8) hydrometer price and brand

From my calculation of my next 4ft tank... It is abt $2000... The skimmer and lighting will depend on what you wan to keep...

Yup have calculated too ard there ..... err still dunno wat to keep yet ....... planning to do it patiencely ...... do a good rockscape first ...after MH and chiller comes in done add livestock and corals slowly. ( Probably will do a mix reef tank )

:D

Liquidz,

My marine set up as follow:

Tank: 4x2x2 12mm Thick+sump+cabinet = $1200

1. Return Pump: get a good one. Eheim 1260 = $190

2. Protein Skimmer = $200 Marine Resources

2 PH = $80 Using 2200L/hr per PH

3. Coral Chip = $10 1 bag is more than enought as it is not so important.

4. Chiller = $1050 Reef Chiller 0.5HP

5. Coral sand = $10x10 bag =$100 for 4" sand bed

6. LR at least 80K x $6 = $480

7. Salts = No idea may be $50 is enough

8. Hydrometer = $16-$20

9. Timer = $17 cheapest I can find

10. Light = abt $700 for 2 MH with blue light set

Better budget at $3000.

Don forget these does not include you LS.

Happy counting

return pump use ocean runner 6500 more energy efficient

skimmer use weipro if keeping fishes

if not use high ends like H&S, Euroreef, PM, deltec or AquaC Ev series

coral chips tot is not advisable to use as it was mentioned that they are building up nitrates rather than reducing them

salt jus buy 20kg jus in case

hydrometer buy those that dont have thermometer ones

buy those plastic ones.

lighting for fishes FL/PL

for softies T5 may do the job

for hardies go for MH 150W/250W

if u are not fussy about noise prb. then cheap chillers can be used ...if not can use RR or Teco

liverocks ard 80 to 100kg can liao
