Thanks for all the comments!!! Please feel free to tell me other areas which u feel i can improve on too yah? Actually, i'm thinking of doing some major rock shifting on the right of my tank...seems like i'm under utilizing the tank space now Been trying to pair up my existing false percula with another smaller one.. keeping my fingers crossed!

At least no fighting involved as the moment and they're like swimming together now. Was wondering if the absence of anemones will deter the pairing? Any comments?

haha...no plans for bigger tank so soon. Maybe I'll upgrade only when I'm married and get my own house? heh...build it into the wall... But for now, a 3 feet is enuff lah. But maybe by then, I'll be facing the same problem some reefers face... nagging from wife! haha...gotta find one like linkinpark's wife..also keep marine tank! :D

hey DB bro,

your tank's up and keeping also what...in fact, I like yours more than mine! teeming with fishes and all the sps! droolz... Mine got only 3 fishes. So boring! Oh, spare me a birdnest frag if u ever gonna frag them!! Been looking for one for long...

Yah loh. Still student lah...so no $$$ to buy so many things. Only investment was a AquaC Urchin... Without calcium reactor, gotta be super dilligent...everyday add calcium and carbonates...and at night drip kalkwasser...tiring but used to it liaoz :) My next piece of equipment will prob be a CR...will need alot of guidance then... But so far the sps seems pretty happy and having good growth. So will prob stick to this routine till ... when i get a bigger tank? heheh....

Current dosing regime...first day : 10 tps: seachem reefadvantage calcium

second day :15 tps seachem reef builer (carbonates)

third day : purely kalkwasser

everynight: kalkwasser

Repeat same thing after that....

Hi Mellow

Great tank. :phone:

I have similar problem like yours and I have no CR. I used to dose 6 tsp of alk in the morning and 4 tsp of Ca at night, and my alk fluctuate greatly betw 7 to 14 dkh.

But I realised that if I dose all in one go, my alk might hit 16dkh after dosing and drop to 7 dkh before the next dosing.

At the same time, I was worried @ "snow storm" with too high of alk. Discussions in RC ever mentioned that higher alk might cause rtn.

Now, my daily regime is 3 tsp of carbonate in the morning, 3 tsp in the evening, and 4 tsp of ca before light off. My alk fluctuates betw 7-11 dkh, ie narrower range.

My tank is 3ftx1.5x1.5 and 1 tsp of carbonate = 1-1.5 dkh. If your tank is the same size as mine, then 15 tsp = at least additional of 15dkh into your tank in one day. Would the level be too high?

Hi linkinpark!

Yah, that kindda worries me at times too. About dosing so much reef builder in just one day. Thankfully there isn't any "snow storm" at the moment after dosing. That's why I'm trying to drip down slowly over one whole day. Hopefully the fluctuation will decrease.

Maybe I will try measuring the dkh just before new dosage and straight after dosage again to see the difference. Haven't really considered much about fluctuations of dkh until u brought it up actually. heh. I guess I was more concerned abt bringing it up to the correct levels then. Thanks for the reminder bro!

Will post the difference of dkh values by tues!

Hey linkinpark,

Finally got down to test the difference in dkh before and after addition. My dkh jumped from 7.8 to 12.1 over a 16hrs period as I dripped the reef builder. :( Seems too big a jump! Will follow your advice and spread the addition of reef builder over 2 days instead. Hopefully will lower the shock. Thanks anyway
