thanks danano! I kindda want the coralline to cover my side and back glass totally. haha... I got my tank from marine pets. gilbert introed me to this cabinet maker called ah weng... if u want, i can pm u his number....pretty neat. Did sliding doors for my cabinet instead of those normal flapping kind coz my tank is just 1 feet from my bed..no space to open if using normal doors... Yup, i think ill just leave my dkh levels as it is..

Hi nutx,

Honestly, I'm not too sure also. For mine, I feel the lighting played a pretty significant part in determining it's shape. Coz i only have a single MH in the centre...so the new layers are tilted at certain angle directly towards the light... But i believe somehow, current will also play a part...

Anticipating the next headache...monti cap now almost touching the glass... wondering if it will ever encrust over the glass? hehe...

Anyway, thanks for all the kind comments. Still thinking of ways to improve..and definitely, so much more to learn man...Up to now, I still dunno how to use a calcium reactor. hehe. All manual dosing! Will try to take more pics of other inhabitants and post it soon!

v[edia,May 29 2004, 12:38 AM] Yoz! ur 3ft ROX!!! hmm.. do anyone have tips for coralline grow on LR

Hey,

Thanks for such encouraging comments. Regarding coralline algae, I just have to maintain high calcium and alkalinity levels for them to grow. They use up calcium like crazy man...even my sump is totally covered now... I think good water quality does help in a way too... if u ever need some to seed your tank, can pm me!

Yah loh. Still student lah...so no $$$ to buy so many things. Only investment was a AquaC Urchin... Without calcium reactor, gotta be super dilligent...everyday add calcium and carbonates...and at night drip kalkwasser...tiring but used to it liaoz :) My next piece of equipment will prob be a CR...will need alot of guidance then... But so far the sps seems pretty happy and having good growth. So will prob stick to this routine till ... when i get a bigger tank? heheh....

Current dosing regime...first day : 10 tps: seachem reefadvantage calcium

second day :15 tps seachem reef builer (carbonates)

third day : purely kalkwasser

everynight: kalkwasser

Repeat same thing after that....

Yah man...it is still kindda shocking to me for needing so much carbonates. I've been doing trial and error over the past couple of months before deriving at this 15tps...and this finally helps maintain dkh of at least 10

yup fuel, i was at first skeptical about dosing way above the daily recommended dosage...but seems like the only way to maintain dkh. I'll try and drip it slowly over the day though. Hopefully won't be too shocking for corals. But I believe what the instructions meant was NOT to raise alkalinity of your tank water by more than 1meq/l each time.... but mine is purely to maintain it. So maybe ok lah :)
