If nothing wrong, it will be more stressful in the qt than in the main tank where it have enough space.

Ich is always a headache......

Yea it might abit stress and I actually transfer them from 5ft to 3ft qt...but normally if the fishes is eating and stable for year jus transfer them out with the main tank water parameter together into the qt would not harm them much, just add medicine to the qt will do...and some minor like pale or stress sign or 1 or 2 dot white spot will shown on fish sometime so this is the best time to check out it fishes wat is happening... And lastly important thing is use less the dosage of full treatment to treat them and 2 weeks time is enough for all check up.

Ich is still in main tank even after two weeks fishless unless some thing is done...

Ich probably come back if you introduce the fish back after two weeks....

While the fishes is in qt I will raise the main tank temp to 31-32 degrees will not harm any bacteria but 2 weeks should enough to kill the left ich inside the tank...temp speed up the ich lifecycle about 1 week and ich cant survive without fish (while all the fish inside qt now) therefore can at least kill more than 90% ich in 1 or 2 more years without intro new fish then I think next 2 year probally no need to qt anymore

Why not qt all fishes before they go ino main tank. Learnt the mistakes of not doing so... velvet wiped out..Now always qt any new fish.

Actually I quarantine 3 mth after setup the whole system bought all fish after together..I doing thus it because I lost more than 2k angelfish n tang including my hard feeding moorish regal n bicolour due to ich strike so now better qt till they free of ich (HOPEFULLY LA) lol

Even I have quarantine the fishes, sometimes ich and velvet still out-break, it maybe due to the fresh market pawn, scallop, clam and musel that you feed the fishes. Unless you say no fresh/frozen food. I cannot confirm that freezing the food will kill the diseases. Mostly likely it won't.

Bacteria infection is also possible even in the main tank even after quarantine and feed the fish with pellets only. Good water parameter included regular water change are the way to minimize the chance of diseases outbreak.

Get back on the loss, I have a major outbreak before , most likely due to bacteria and velvet. Gills infection and stop eating are the common symptoms. It can occurred one day before the fish died. Queen, king, rock beauty, sailfin tang, purple tang, some dwarf angels, butterfly fish ,etc are some of my loss :cry2: . Look out for dwarf angel and butterfly, they are normally the first to go as compared with the tang, large angel and clown fish.

Sometimes it is very difficult to save the infected fishes. You have to keep changing water and adding copper to your tank (FOWLR tank) for weeks depending on the diseases. You see your fishes one by one go down, very discouraging...... even you have did everythings you can.

Mostly you have not enough space in the quarantine tank to hold all your fishrs to do a major clean up and disinflection or go fishless on the main tank until you have loss almost all your fish ( like the case of AngGukuek I think...).

Prevention is better, early detection is always citrical. Always spends quality time with your fish just like your kids....... Happy keeping....
