max weight for 12mm?

Recommended Posts

hi bros, i need to know how much sand and LR a 5x2x2 bare tank with euro bracing (12mm) can hold. the base does not have any extra bracing, just the base.

thinking of converting my aro tank to marine so i was thinking whether the tank can hold a 4 -6 inch DSB and sufficient live rocks for FOWLR setup.

any bros with similar experience, i would appreciate your advice. cheers

Just empty and clean the bottom of the tank, go to a glass cutter and get glass cut to size and silicon it on the coners la. (cut off the existing silicon first). better be safe than to have a possibility of a leaking 5ft. But 12mm should not be a problem if the stand is strong and the silicon work is good.

Or you can go kalantan lane and ask them to do for you. they can either do it in your house of transport for you. Can even do a overflow at the same time.

wow bro benz thanks for the calculations!! my stand is those 2inch black square type stand. it looks pretty solid and is meant for 2 tier so i think it can hold.

planning to make it a lion, frog fish type species tank with about 4-5 fish, is this considered a high bioload?

Metal stand normally are made from WI or mild steel. As for stainless steel stand, they are normally not painted unless requested. And stainless steel used in the aquarium industry also rust. Cos they use a lower grade. Good stainless steel are 316 but for a 4ft alone will cost close to a thousand dollars so this grade is not used unless specially requested.

Painting alone does not protect from rust. Best if galvanised with zinc as this will slow the process drastically. The next best thing is to coat the stand with metal primer flowered by coats of epoxy paint. So black paint will not stop the rust. I have a metal stand barely 5mths old. Fine when using foe planted. But when I placed my QT there, started rusting in just 2months+. :(
