Skimmer Help!

I have reef octopus skimmer ROPS-INT3000 that been using for few month now. The problem is when I clean the collector every week the skimmer would skim properly and gunk out about 1 inches inside the waste collector...after then It wont skimz anymore no matter how I adjust the water valve. Can help me this as I cant be everyday clean the collector.

Try washing the pump. Also is your water lvl constant?

Maintaining water level is actually quite important to the performance of the skimmer. Ur user manual should have indicated the recommended level.

Yea water lvl at recommend optimum level n I can't be cleaning the collector everyday.. Is the collector need to be clean everyday ?

Maybe u can take a pic of your skimmer. I clean my skimmer every 3 to 4 days

I usually empty the cup once a week. Sometimes skimmer goes crazy, then i'll clear when it's half full..

yea I cleared and clean every week 1st day work fine 2nd day onward no skimming at all the highest is on the neck

There comes a point when your skimmer will stop skimming when the nutrients are removed from the water.

Maybe you can share your feeding schedule and bipolar etc?

I feed my fish around 2 times pellet food all eaten and 1 times frozen food...Nitrate was in 20ppm not increasing after 1mth...2 mth water change...Currently got 9 angelfish n 4 tangs all 5 inches...hope it help

If its a fowlr, IMHO, 20 ppm is not too high, of course it would be better if it could lower down, but it looks like your bio load is high, so 20 ppm is reasonable.

I don't see anything wrong with what you have described. If you fear your skimmer is not working, I think a picture would help a lot

Also, what is the volume of your tank? The model that you're using is rated for 300 gallons.

If your skimmer's volume is rated too much higher than your tank's volume, the skimmer might also not work properly.
