try to cut it with a pen knife near as close to the base connecting to the rock as possible. there are risk involved.

You can try agitating the rock in the water to get the mushroom to shrink as much as possible. Then take it out and use a small spoon to peel away the mushroom slowly and gently at the base. I've done it with one of those small white plastic stirrers that u can pick up at Mcdonalds or kopitiam before and it worked for me. HTH.
