Aiptasia anemones with hot water

Recommended Posts

I got 20 heads of aiptasia living in my live rock. Before using Joe's Juice etc etc, I try to use a syringe and carefully target pump some very hot water on it inside the tank. It can be killed. However, the coralline at the spot of the target will be bleached.

My buddy tried Sunkist lemon on his aiptasia, works too, Coralline not harmed, and the Vit C from the juice is somehow acted as suppliments

Good info. Found that newly added live rocks contain asiptasia. Was thinking whether to add copperband, now will try out sunkist.

if you are able to remove the rocks i think it is better to remove and nuke it to eradicate the aiptasia.

Casue if the aiptasia is not killed properly or some part manage to tear and spread to other rocks, then it will become a nightmare.

IMO, not worth to save coraline and put your tank at risk.

Happy Reefing!

Just spray on the aiptasia? how much is needed? don't want to affect my tank pH by using vinegar.

What is ur tank volume? If 300l and above should not be a problem. Use a syringe and direct venigar to the mouth. Remember to off the pump. If too many and afraid of ph swing, kill 2 or 3 a day.
