Hi all,

A bit confuse of this. For new tank setup, do i need to add chemical to eliminate chlorine and chloramine? do i need also to put the tap wafer overnight b4 i put into new tank?

actually no need to...what I do regularly, got my water ready in a pail, put in the salt mix...let it be for a few days, with the airstone running for a few days to ensure salt quite thoroughly dissolved, after that just use it to change water.

alternatively, buy a deioniser, cost you about $299 or lesser....can eliminate most chemical stuffs, like phosphate in the water...estimated probably you may need to change medium once a year or even longer(i think medium ard $90- not sure)

hi deepblue, what i meant is for the new tank setup. For the first time we put water in the new tank. Do i need to add chemical and leave it overnight b4 i putting it into a empty tank?

If can afford better to use deioniser even for new tank setup. Deioniser remove much more harmful substance. Price about $300 from Marine Life at Hong Leong.
