In general, we aim for higher turnover rate for our tank. Min is 5 times per hour. of cos higher will be ideal. however too high is not good as well, your skimmer might not be able to clean the water before it get back into the display tank. So what we do is to match the equipments flow rate. the rest will be taken care by wavemaker.

maybe i kiasu, i have roughly the same size as yours. my return pump was 6000lph, now upgrade to 10,000lph. i think just nice

I have read somewhere in this forum long time ago that somebody recommended the flowrate of the return pump to be 10 times your tank volume. Example: If your tank volume is 380L, the return pump should be rated at 3800L/hr or around there.
