Advice for newly setup tank 322

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I've jus start up a 322 for marine.. Had run the tank for about 2 weeks.. currently running on eheim 2228 with a cooling fan... Have not add any life stock yet.. I dun intend to rear any corals.. jus stones and fishes only..

1) I would like to know am i able to sustain the tank without a skimmer? If not, what brand or type of skimmer would be better for me?

2) Am i able to jus top up the water every week without doing water change? If i need to do water change. Do i need to buy salt water from LFS to top up?

3) If i were to use very bright lighting for the tank (LED) will it turn into an algae tank sooner than i expected? Say a month?

I really appreciates your input. Apologies for the noob questions.

In any case get test kits to test your parameter. Once matching to the required parameters you can add live stock. For skimmer you can get bubble magnus. Adding water for evaporation yes. Changing of water to me is a must as it remove bad stuffs.

Yes NSW or salt mix will be fine for water change. Just make sure you are diligent enough to change it more often to export all the "bad stuff" out.

Evaporation is only water without salt because when water evaporate, salt will still remain so just have to top up water for evaporation.

Yes you may just do water change can already.

It all breaks down to what type of fish you are keeping also.

My 3x2x2 have been running one year without skimmer and also very minimal water change which i'm guilty of.

Don't follow my bad example, so i making amendment to my wrong doing by setting up a new tank for my lovely creature who have been with me for more than 4 years haha.

But if you ask me, i will still recommending you having skimmer =)
