Spotted cyno bacteria in my tank recently and found natural way to kill them w/o chemicals.

All u need if hot boiling water and syringe ( I used those 200ml BIG ones )

Using syringe is good to contain boiling water and target cyno ( remember not to hold body of syringe or you'll be burnt )

Target hot water onto cyno and squirt .

Red cyno will turn bright orange ( means it's KILLED ) .

Killing bacteria using hotwater method is common with surgical room

You MUST remember to ensure your skimmer is working and cleared before starting . Once the bacteria dies , your skimmer will work overtime .

If you are using ATI fixture, the light tubes will be 'overdrive', 8 mths have to change. For other fixtures where the tubes are not been 'overdriven', 9 months is OK, however should not be more than 10 months.

Hot water just kill the bacteria and tomorrow they come back in another corner.

Deal with your nutrient issue. Get or change skimmer and change water.

If I got cyano, I wont do any carbon dosing till they are gone.

Happy Reefing,
