wearenotmonkey
I just changed a new pump to drive my chiller but the next day I saw my damsel fish die and a day after another fish die... what could be wrong with the pump? I checked water para and all within ranges ....

SRC Member Firestarter Posted January 11, 2013 SRC Member Share Posted January 11, 2013 Sometimes new pumps have a thin layer of lubricant to prevent the insides from rusting. Either that or there is grease leaking out from the parts... I suggest you give it a good clean (soak in vinegar?) and see how it goes. SRC Member stevenchia Posted January 11, 2013 SRC Member Share Posted January 11, 2013 But that shouldnt cause the fishes to die.. unless the lub itself is toxic. But i always rinse my new pump before putting into the tank. Yes ph 7.8 is too low for the fish, buffer it up to ideally 8.3 Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2 Quote 1000 Gallon Tank in the Hole http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/topic/120957-1000-gallon-3d-hole-in-the-wall/
