it tops up using a pump from the liquid container when the float switch is switched on when water level drops.

i suppose that the acrylic container is provided as well as i see a separate float switch, which could be for the water level in the liquid container.

this works by using a pump to pump it up, means you need ac supply, while yours is using gravity fed. depends on what you are looking to top up, if you're topping up your sump, gravity ones might just do it's job.

you can youtube some auto top ups. most reefers use gravity fed, but that means you gotta have a container to store all the water as well..

some how mine the float can't stop the water completely...

It's better not to use it as i might overflow. is there any missing part? check out for a missing oring. of is the pressure difference too great such that water keeps leaking out?

It is quite easy to minimize the risk of overflow by utilizing two float switches. One switch is to control top off pump (connect through a relay) and the other will trigger devices that only kick-in (or switch off) during emergency. E.g: switch on emergency pump, open gravity-fed valve, switch off return pump etc...
