SRC Member jxlex Posted December 13, 2012 SRC Member Share Posted December 13, 2012 I know that the max is suppose to be 9.5mm but can I check if anyone has tried it on thicker glass (like 12mm)? I have 1 which I'm thinking of using but lazy to take out from current tank to put into my this tank if it doesn't work in the first place... Appreciate any advice or experiences Quote :: just a noob ::
Jameshong
I tried ok when new but after a year or two, it tend to drop off ocassionally . I think the magnet start to weaken but for 10mm no issue.. ! Quote Knowing is not enough; we must apply. SRC Member jxlex Posted December 13, 2012 Author SRC Member Share Posted December 13, 2012 Thanks bro Hmm cos my new tank is 12mm and if go for mp40 like quite silly, if mp10 can serve its purpose then I will just get but concern about the thickness issue as I dun want to go buy a new one then go back cannot I dont think they will allow refund leh. .. Then if I dismantle from current just to test dawn troublesome Quote :: just a noob ::
SRC Member [V]tEc Posted December 13, 2012 SRC Member Share Posted December 13, 2012 mp10 is for nano size. 12mm thick tank should be 3 ft n above. 3 ft usually go for mp40.

SRC Member peacemaker Posted December 14, 2012 SRC Member Share Posted December 14, 2012 MP10 works fine with 10mm glass thickness.
Mokyc
No problem. I am also using MP10 for my 12mm thk 3x2x2. I bought from Madpets and Ken removed a thin layer of ruberrise skin on the magnet surface, guessed to make it stronger. I find MP40 for 3ft tank abit overkill. Of course you can lower the power but then what is the point.

SRC Member ryanlio Posted December 19, 2012 SRC Member Share Posted December 19, 2012 Stick a thin layer of double side tape to hold the dry part on the side.. magnetic force should still run the propeller.. SRC Member jxlex Posted December 21, 2012 Author SRC Member Share Posted December 21, 2012 Just to conclude this topic, the mp10 has no issues attaching and running the pump... Unfortunately, it is seriously underpowered for what I need... Mp40 here I come! On a side note, zoa, lps should be fine with it... Thanks all! SRC Member Rxcp14 Posted January 8, 2013 SRC Member Share Posted January 8, 2013 Hi all, how's the noise produced as it'll be in my room cause i read that noise was an issue especially on higher power and say if im thinking of Mixed reef next time with SPS, would mp10 suffice for it or adding 2 mp10 should be good? My new tank is 3 by 2 feet and with grade 0 sand and rock scaped like the tank on the left side of Aquamarin's door(rocks with caves lined in the middle). Thank u all.. Noise is really not smthg to be overly concern about... At max u get a buzzing sound... 3ft my guess is 2 mp40s... I'm using a mp40 & mp10 as slave w another tunze 6015 for dead spot... Hope it helps Quote :: just a noob ::

Like i must rev it up to higher end of the power to suffice? Quote Fresh fishes and inverts! What's next? To the salty side of marine of course! SRC Member jxlex Posted January 11, 2013 Author SRC Member Share Posted January 11, 2013 Depending on your return pump flow... You will need to see if your lps are swaying... They dun need excessive flow but will need to see them gently moving.... Imo at least add another wavemaker like tunze Quote :: just a noob ::
