Strange salinity readings from

Recommended Posts

Did my salt mix this morning.Using Tropic Marin. Up till now different areas of the tank (3 by 1.5) gives a different reading.

The left hand front corner and the centre gives 1.022 - 1.024. The back and the right front corner of the tank reads 1.030.

I've only one pump circulating the water.

Should I be concerned about the difference in reading?

Thanks.

How is that possible?

You are probably using the swing arm hydrometer right?

You probably have microbubbles sticking on the arm... it will affect the reading.

Tap it until all the bubbles are gone...before taking the reading.

It's not possible for a tank with good circulating water to register different salinity at different areas.

Strange... could u resend? Ah never mind... I think you still don't get it.

You have to be a BIT more descriptive... what are you trying to tell us?

Think about spam emails... if you see the header as 'Money not enough'.... you'll probably don't bother opening it and just ignore and junk it right? But if the email header says.... 'Money not enough but I'll send you diamonds and gold bricks instead'.... I am VERY SURE you'll want to read more!

So likewise... what your header could be is:

"Strange salinity readings from different parts of my tank - help!" or "Is my hydrometer spoilt? I get strange readings!"

Your suggestion of "Coralife Hydrometer reading" is NO BETTER than "salinity reading"

We still have NO IDEA what you're trying to say!!

Understand now, dude? :D

Point taken and accepted.

Then again, that's why I'm still new, and as such ... I know no better...as compared to you.

Your topic title is much better than mine. I've no objections to you changing it.

As to deleting the thread, I'll leave it to you. If you think it's a one off question or it's not important for newbies; then you can delete it.

Thanks for offering a better suggestion. :thanks:
