is my zoa dying?

Hello,

The zoa i had is for about 3 weeks now. Initially it looks fine and all the polyhs were opened.

However, these couple of days, it has all but closed up. Is it because its dying? Should i remove it before it fouls up the water and kill the other inhabitants?

Anyway, did u check for parasites or dip before putting in? Sometimes could be something irritating them...

Im using T5 X2 6watts ea

its for a 1 feet nano cube.

I did not use any dip prior to putting the coral in there. Anyway to check if its parasites?

What do you mean by stretched? I'm still rather new, still learning along the way.

1st, When the light is off at night, i.e when the polyps are not opened. see if you can spot any nudibranch crawling on them using torch light. if see those, remove them. It may be good if you can add a natural predator such as yellow wrasses to consume these pets.

2nd, is the zoas under direct current? if yes, probably change a location.

3rd, stretched - means the polyps seems to pull themselves upwards in order to get more light.

I hv a previous setup similar to yours. Depend on your tank heigh, i used T5 2 x 16w and do not hv strenched problem

Another thing irealised after a few times is zoa eating nudi. the coloyr of the nudi is very close to the zoa it is eating... Can spot when lights out w small uv light... I used 6 line wrasse the last time round, afterwhich no see again...

Best to dip ur coral in either coralrx or equivilent or fresh water or both to chase out as much hitchikers as possible, google on it and u will have the methods right away...

For me is 1 -2mins soak di water then trsf to coralrx mix with power head for bout 5-15mins then deep saltwater again for 5-15mins before i introduce into tsnk. better be safe then sorry

my zoa is doing fine now ever since i changed to 2*16watt lights.
