When you mentioned water parameters are ok, what do you mean? Have you tested PO4 and NO3?

Beside NO3 and PO4, check your pH and KH too..

Water salinity is 1.024, KH is 9 to 10 dkh and PH is 8.3 . Yet check the NO3 and PO4. Need to go and buy test kits. Thank 4 the advice .

Po4 is 0.03, but no3 is high, based on the reading is 100. I am using salifert test kits . How to bring down the no3 ? Pls advice

i think water change is good approach.

I suspect your tank is still quite new and you have stock up too fast and thus your NO3 has sky rocketed. You need to stop addiing more livestock to let the beneficial bacteria catch up to the nutrients created by your existing livestock.

Besides the above, you need to do more water changes to bring down the NO3 in order to keep your existing livestock happy. Failure to do so may mean loosing some of them.

For long term control of NO3, there are several approaches, do some read up and find the best solution for you:

1. Natural Nitrate Reduction 1 - Through the adding of more liverocks or increasing depth of sandbed. Anarobic areas at the centre of liverocks or in sandbed will harbour anaerobic bacteria that will convert NO# into Nitrogen which will be harmless and bubbles out into the air.
   
2. Natural Nitrate Reduction 2 - Through setting up of a refugium with algae, NO3 is a food source for algae and will be naturally adsorped for growth.
   
3. Chemical Nitrate Reduction - Adding NO3 reducing chemical or NO3 adsroption medias .
   
4. Mechanical Nitrate Reduction - A good protein skimmer will be able to skim out DOC which in terms reduce NO3.
   
5. Delibrate Bacterial Nitrate Reduction - Although using bacteria, I would say that this is a Natural process but a delibrate efforts by hobbyists to encourage the growth of certain bacetria to achieve low NO3. In this method, hobbyists uses carbon sources in various forms (pellets or liquid) either in a specially build reactor or dose directly into the tank.

Noob here, but i realized that there are the curly and non-curly type of hammer. prolly yours is the curly type?

if you mean its shrunken that's why appears curly then i'm wrong

just checking, is this a new coral to the main tank? how old is ur tank?

if you say the water parameters are ok, have u recently move to another area or have u adjust the wave direction of the tank.

Too weak or strong flow can cause LPS to behave weird and result some damage to the fresh.

Those coral have been with me for about 4 months . My tank about 8 months. Water parameters ok less NO3 is high.

Did shift them after I introduced new wake maker . Now trying to bring down nitrate an shift them to new position .

U mentioned wavemaker.... Hmm LPS i think prefer moderate indirect n irregular flow, do a check, maybe the flow is irritating them...

If all paras are fine then it shld be some physical cause liao
