Sudden death of fish

Recommended Posts

hi all.. just want to gather some feedback from bros here.. has anyone purchased the fire gobies from Iwarna's last saturday's batch? i have bought 3 of them and 2 have alrdy passed away. and the last one doesnt look too gd currently. am suspecting could it be due to cyanide poisoning as the symptoms include rapid breathing, sudden loss of appetite and sudden death overnight. when first purchased the fishes were eating greedily and swimming fine till these symptoms occured just overnight one after the other. so just to know who else bought the fishes and if they are experiencing the same... thanks!

I was told by LFS that methylene blue can help with cyanide poisoning. Got this from another webby,

"The properties of the drug as an oxygen transporter (it converts methemoglobin to the normal oxygen carrying component of fish blood, hemoglobin) allow it to be used in the treatment of known cyanide and nitrite poisoning of aquarium fishes. It has been suggested that newly arrived marine fish placed in Methylene Blue can have their survival rate increased as Methylene Blue aids in the reversal of nitrite and/or cyanide poisoning."
