Hi, just wanted to know whether have anyone tried keeping Mollies in their reef tank.

Some of my friends in Oz are telling me that they are great cuz they are not aggressive and yet hardy.

Would appreciate your experieneces or opinions cuz me thinking of keeping them cuz they are great breeders and their fries can be fed to my horses.

i have a pair of mollies inside my SH tank.. been inside for over 1 yr already... as for the fries, i never get to see them coz one moment, it is pregnant, the next, its stomach is flat...yes, they are very docile and peaceful... and like u mentioned, the main purpose of them inside my SH tank is to breed fries for my SH :nc:

u might want to consider introducing them gradually into the environment.. something like acclimatising the new fishes... if u just dump them inside, they will have problems breathing....and may die on u... learnt it the hard way...

they had learnt to eat frozen brine shrimps and mysis shrimps already.. of course, if given live, they will also wallop them... generally, they leave the SH alone..

u can also consider keeping a pair of shrimps and let them breed.. hehehe.. i do that too...

I would have never thought that freshwater fish like mollies could survive in saltwater!

It this with a normal 1.020 salinity level?

their ancestors came from the sea.. i read this somewhere...
