white sea urchin dying

Anyone has experience with this type of urchin? Bought from cf.. its spikes are dropping like mad... I gave it dried seaweed and change water regularly but still....

It is in very bad condition. Observe well...no drastic change in to water parameter. ..temp especially. ..i had a similar situation and it gone within 2 weeks

yours still can survive 2 weeks... mine is dead... the only thing i could think of that kill it was when changing water, the salanity was increased from 1.023 to 1.026. But such a slight change killed it within 2 days? hmm.. funny

may i ask what is the temperature of your tank? the only time i lost an urchin was due to a drastic temperature change (chiller didn't kick in)

yeah.. been doing reseach from library as well as internet... its death's cause by temperature issues. This species of white urchins are common in school science labs in US but not so common in sg. It's optimal temperature is around 22C but my fan cooled tank temp is between 25C to 28C. It must have been dying a slow death for 1 week since i bought it. Lesson learnt, stick to the more common species of LS found in sg or do more reseach on less commonly seen species before buyng....
