does chaeto remove nitrate?

Recommended Posts

Nutrient in the tank I.e ; nitrate , and P04 is food for these plants.

Growing it indirectly remove these nutrient from the water.

Oh thanks for all the good info . But I'm using led Don't think 80Walt . At most 40Walt i guess .

Try it with what you have first...if you see that Chaeto starts growing it means that your lighting is sufficient. But preferably white lights with at least 10 hours and best with reverse lighting hours ( i.e. turn lights on during the night time if possible ) so as to achieve a stable ph level.

Treat others the way you wanna be treated...

Yes, cheato does absorb nitrate in order to grow. However to work best, you need to trim them regularly so that they will continue to grow and therefore continue to absorb nitrate. Cheato that are overgrown will not absorb much nitrate as they are prevented from growing optimally.

Yaa Chito removes nitrate but make sure at least 80 Watts of light ( 10 hrs a day) and good water flow for them to thrive long..does a fantatstic job..

Hmm... I am using LED white light (maybe only 5-6W... :(
