SRC Member sam_always Posted January 27, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted January 27, 2004 Hi all, thinking of keeping a pair of clown fish. But i dont have strong light to keep sea anemone as a host for clown fish. What other coral can i keep as a host for clown fish?
SRC Member andysho Posted January 27, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted January 27, 2004 somtimes clown fish will settle in any stinging coral like hammer or torch coral~~~~ It depends which one will they like
Achilles Tang
Clownfishes are not fussy. Even a powerhead or LR will do. But they seem to prefer something with wavy tentacles or polyps. My new tiny false percula is currently being hosted by my torch coral. But bear in mind, they may irritate the substitute host coral and they may not open. bwilly
I see my false clown has settle nicely on my bubble..!! anyway, the clown is so small n my wife fav.. haha..! I believe the clown will look for subsitute something they give them the same feeling like an anemone, may it be long shaft or round, regardless of shape.. but it must be soft n good for a rubba.. WLSS
My black percula is hosted by my jewel! So cute to see the clown waggling among the tentacles. At night, the clown will "fight hard" to stay among the retracting tentacles when the jewel wants to "sleep" .
