Hi

Me not expert but just wish to share my experience. Hopefully it is helpful. I have changed from MH to 8 x ATI T5 for about 6 months with a photo-period of 8 hours. My 6 Maxima clams are placed between 1 feet to 1.5 feet from the light and they are doing very well. Thus, there shouldn't be any problem if you reduce your photo-period from 12 hours to 8 hours.

Best regards

Do you guys prefer to place your clam on rock or on sand bed?

Actually it depends on what spieces you have, T.Crocea and T. Maxima you want them on rocks rather then sand bed itself. They prefer to have something solid eg. a rock to secure themselve to .

It depend on your lighting. Should u decide to position iton the rock. Important to secure it well else you can expect it to fall every other days. I glued one side of the shell to my rock.
