gavintan87
Hi all, I intend to use tunze wave pumps for my 5x2x2.5 tank. Can I seek some advice on how many wave pumps should I need for it? Thx

thairun
As rule of thumb, at least total water turnover at 45k ltr/hr incl main pump. honkit
i intend to buy tunze 6105, so 3 shld be enuff for me?? Three would be fine for a tank of your size provided it's not too heavily stocked and have less rocks. 4 would be preferable if you intend to have a dense forest of SPS corals and lots of rocks. One is definitely insuffcient for an SPS dominated tank or even a mixed reef tank for that matter. Strong, intermittent flow is a must for sps coral health and vitality. I can't comment on the MP40 as I don't use it myself. You could try one tunze 6105 and 1 MP40 and observe if all your sps coral polyps are waving at least moderately. SRC Member james72 Posted October 6, 2012 SRC Member Share Posted October 6, 2012 I running MP40 (12000l/h) + MP10 (6000l/h) + 6025 (4500l/h) + eheim 1262 return (3400l/h) on my 250L tank. I calculated using 70% efficency Turnover rate which is about 73 times. I still find at least 3 dead spots at the bottom of tank. Hunting for my 4th wavemaker now.
