Tips of milli turn brown

Hi all,

Recently bought a milli and BN from Go. Both milli and BN doing very well in the first few weeks, polyps extension is good, color get more intense.

However these few day the tips of the pink milli turn to light brown in color and the polyps exteinson of the tips are not as good as b4, while BN is doing extremely well with growth. The milli too is growing, but only the middle area is growing well, the tips in the middle area still in milky white only those tips in the top turn light brown and not growing. No sign of STN color holding well. The only changes I made was adjusting my LED light intensity from 70% to 100% across 3 weeks time. Nitrate and PO4 in check, donno KH though.

What could have happened? Is this sign of burning tips?

BTW polyps extension of the tips is observed after lights off.

Hi,

Had experienced this, if you are running ULNS and kH tad high. Will kena tip burn.

Running Sorb4 and Biopellet with FR, over skimmed with SM201(for tank 800L and above while only 600L for my tatol tank volume and very few LS now) and 30% WC fornightly, could this consider a ULNS setup? I better get a KH tester then....

Maybe you can try measure nitrate and PO4. If both near 0 and below 0.03 respectively tank's typically at ULNS.

As for Kh for ULNS angmos at reefcentral recommend below 7.7, something akin to seawater parameter.

If phosphate & kH in checked, can try dose iodine.

Iodine to heal the burnt parts ? Can I ask how to dose ? Cos mine still yet to recover.

For my 250L tank, I dose lugols iodine 1 drop per day. I notice it help in recovering the sps colours faster. But base line kH, salinity, temp, phosphate need to be stable first.
