I was recently introduced to an Indonesian furniture supplier who can make solid teak wood cabinet for fish tank. I understand that a few reefers have already bought their cabinets from this shop. For 4ft x 2 ft cabinet, the price quoted was $600, which is quite reasonable for a solid teak piece. Normal ones (use plywood and unknown wood as beam support) costs $480 ($120 per foot run). Hope this gives you another alternative for consideration. ;)

hi bro,

marine cabinet are more ex because their are built with proper support. the supporting beam are the pillar of the structure.

why not u dont mention "marine" when customise the cabinet? it will definately be cheaper but u will have nightmare and worry if the cabinet can have the support needed. :(

as for teak, its not advisable......they can infested very easily....thats what happen to my teak tv consol and dining table....got small ants......hopefully not termite..

ultimately, the choice is urs.....pay cheaper, get a normal cabinet and worry, or pay abit more and have no worries.

Teak contains natural oil which is supposed to repel insect infestation. Perhaps your furniture has more or less dried up. Just oil it with teak oil from every few years for easy maintenance. I think a colonial syle teak fish tank cabinet would look interesting.
