Large worm

Found this in my tank!

Thought it was a snake/eel.

Luckily I manage to take it out..

Anyone can id?

You are lucky that you can remove it! I still see them (heads only) coming out between the rocks during feeding time. Try shining red light into your tank at 3am and you will be surprised what you have ...

Bristleworm. Some might say it's a pest but my personnal take is that it's a good clean up crew. Have a few small ones in my tank too.

Personally once awhile I will setup traps to catch some of them - too keep their population under control. Some predators also keep them under control.

Anyway I dont ever think it is possible to wipe out all of them...mission impossible.

Worms are good. However my leopard wrasse manages to eat most of the big ones.

That looks more like a bobbit worm rather than a bristle.

I saw some wormlike critters in my tank at 3am when it is total darkness.. Even under red light, the bugger retracts quickly in the sand.. I cannot ID it.. I have episodes of small fishes dissapearing without a trace.. I suspect this is the culprit..
