SRC Member John Deroe Kenedy Posted September 26, 2012 Author SRC Member Share Posted September 26, 2012 Yes QT is good.. but bare in mind, sometimes even if u QT ur fishes, they might still catch itch in ur DP tank due to the stress in different environment.. From what i have found is that if ur DP tank is not ich free, even QT fishes will still get ich. QT works well with a Ich free DP tank. Terryz_
I think its impt to qt all fish even from fellow reefers. I learnt the hard way. Once I bought some clowns from a fellow reefer (they looked perfectly healthy btw), and put into main tank. 4 days later, all my banner fish got hit with ich. Another time, i bought 6 fish from a lfs and put into my main tank. In the end 5 survived (1 KO due to stress) but........for the next 3-4 days, had to keep clearing corpses every morning.I lost about 15 of my long time residents due to bacteria infection. I think sometimes, the fish we bring back are carriers - they may have developed resistance to a particular strain of disease, but our own resident fish may be vulnerable. Uv will only prevent a ich outbreak.. Having a QT is mainly to get the fish to get well and gain weight and immunity to fight for food in the main tank and not get hit by the ich so badly and able to cope with the initial infection.. geckus
I buy kuda seahorse and always die after a week, and I follow shops advise to the T . Each seahorse 35 bucks bought total 10. Some shops advise maybe deliberately only can last awhile, so you will buy more next trip.
geckus
When asking for seahorse friendly fishes for example, they say this friendly that friend... Next I find my seahorse missing eyes or horses getting caught in some live coral as if coral eating the poor fellow.... Hiaz... Then all they can say is freak accident and laugh
