Am keeping LPS and tangs now.

Looking to add in 1-2 clams.

I know they love strong lights. But what are the other basic elements needed to keep them in good shape?

Any special dose that i need to look into? As i do water change everyweek. (10%)

Hoping for some advise.

Reefing is sharing. People with rotten mouth is sure a loser for life as expected. When a tomato gets rotten, you can nvr save it.. Throw it away before it infect the good ones.

tks for sharing and great information on the water parameters.

Avg sea water is around 380 ppm, i am doing NSW 10% per week and add calcium advantage on the first day of water change and on 3rd-or 4th days of the week.

Cal level maintain at around 425ppm. Manual dosing of iodine and magnesium daily. ( maybe i do not house much SPS)

Lighting requirement.

Anyone share keeping Maxima under LED fixture?

How do you place the maxima in a 2.5ft deep tank ( example half of the tank height?)

How many hours the clam need if u on 100% cree blue and 100% cree white each a day?

BTW who is the clam master?

Maxima are found on shallows thus their light demands is high, if using LED, I will keep them higher than on the sand bed. Anyway, Maxima are usually found attached to rocks in the wild and thus prefers to be on a sturdy rock vs on the sand bed.

Try to have a minimum photo period of 4-5hours in full blast of your LED. I kept mine in 8hrs 400w MH and 12hrs of T5 Actinics previously.

Hope that helps.

Yes i agree, minimum photo period of 4-5hours in full blast of your LEDs. :)

for New clam, better to bring it up at least half of your tank height ,since your is a 2.5ft tank

When the new clam acclimate to the tank environment, you can slowly move down to the bottom and adjust.

Doesn't mean strong light, the clam will do better. sometime too strong the light will also kill the clam.

all depend how well the clam adjust to your tank spec. (i mean light)

I like T5 for my clam, LEDs also can house clam but have to be a bit careful and tactful :).
