water temperature for sps

Recommended Posts

I always read up articles stating sps require 75F/23.9C - 80F/26.7C deg temperature to strive. Is it true? I am looking at energy efficiency for my tank now.

What are the majority of the sps tank owners controlling their water temperature in Singapore?

Currently I am controlling around 26C degree. Which I think my chiller is cutting in too often.

26 is good. Don't need to go below.

If you really want to save more on electricity, u can go to 27.

But it depend on your chiller kick in temp. Some have +/- 2. So you might have up to 29 at times.

If possible keep at 26, which is ideal :)

So 27C deg is OK for sps as well? My chiller temp control quite good, able to maintain +- 0.2 DegC. If 27C is okie, I will want to slowly adjust it near 27C deg so can save some electricity bills.

James

Wow that's a lot of saving. Is it the same as aircon compressor ? How does it works?

Mine is room temperature using fan. My chiller is never switched on.

With fan the temperature is 27-28 day time. On hottest day it goes to 29 only.

Sps is growing, no issue. However I do notice that when temp is cool like nowadays between 26-27, the polyps are more open, longer.

Forget about those power savers.. yes, it will improve power factors and may reduce the current if one has inductive load so that one can load more appliances in the same circuit but it did nothing to improve the kwh consumed. This is because kw is not affected by power factor and our electricity meter only records kw and ignore the kvar. As capacitors do have leakages, it may consume power instead. Read more about power savers in here

Minisun? many i know how much you did you get to saving for the electric bills?

Drop in coils are not much more efficient than ordinary chillers except one can omit the circulating pump which is required for normal chiller. But most reefer have in-line filters that will need pumping anyway. so net net, not much power saving as can been seen from this table from manufacturer of drop-in coils

http://www.aquaticeco.com/images/static/charts/TLD_specs.gif

The advantage is only smaller in size. The disadvantage is inflexible limited by the freon tubes (often rubber type like those in cars) which can be a source for freon leakages requiring regular top of freon gas.

Yes definitely .. My bill was cut at least $ 50.00 per month after running drop in coil.

mine drops about $40. Bills always hover around $230-240. Now around $180 plus. Guess the bigger tank With a drop in coil will have more savings as compared to a small tank with a drop in coil
