Refugium

i was thinking of making a refugium especially after seeing some of the photos our fellow members have put up here........

i know a refugium is an area located outside of the main tank with tank water flowing through it in which caulerpa can grow safely.

but since you guys are actually harvesting algae.....won't there be nusiance alage growing also??

all the photos don't seem to have this problem......

is this a problem??

or is it once you are using a refugium and u grow caulerpa inside you will not get nusiance alage anymore?

Yah have some algae on the glass.. but the macro algae is so thick I hardly notice it...

so it means with one of those refugium i will have very very little algae??

right now i having a bit of algae problem......

its those green patches kind that keep appearing on the walls of my tank and blocks the vision for the tank........

do any of you guys think a refugium will work to get rid of those kind of algae??

don't think having refugium will help you reduce algae. As long as the condition is right: light, nitrate, phosphate, silicate are present, they will be algae; no matter main tank or refugium.
