Used Chiller

Recommended Posts

Go for arctica if u can. It may cost 2-3x more than other brands but it's worth it for my experience as I had 2 resun before switching to arctica.

Some will say u can buy a few other brands chiller with the cost of 1 arctica but trust me, u don't want the chiller to die on u & yr corals to die or bleach.

If budgeted, go for 2nd hand but only arctica. Other brands, better to get new ones.

go for artica and if you can wait, look out for used one in pasar malam, easily 50% off new pricing

have used Hailea before, in terms of noise never Arctica is darn quiet. LOL

Hi all,

any suggestion? New or used chiller will be advisable for new hobby?

Thank you.

Depends. Expensive lifestock, new. Don't care about lifestock, used. Used chillers tend to have a lot more problems and most sellers rarely detail to you all the problems, some do not even let you test. Luckily for me, my chiller was sold by a very nice reefer whom detailed me with all the problems and enforced testing. Not so lucky for one of my skimmer and return pump though.

A good point to remember, repair costs with the used chiller cost may be near or exceed new chiller cost, especially when you include livestock loss
