my crazy idea

hi guys,

After keeping this hobby for more than a year now, i always find that a 150watt MH is rather good enough. But after sometimes, and looking at reefers tank which is runing on a 250watt MH, my hands that itching............

So, decided to modify my Atman fixture...........

the Atman fixture is a 2 x 150watt DE with 4 x 24watt PL actinic. here is the pic of the fixture..........

pls ignore my toes.........

the fixture is damn heavy and realise that it comes with 6 magnetic ballast..........

4x24watt PL = 4 ballast

2x150watt Mh = 2 ballast

I have decided to remove all...........the 24watt ballast is now replace by 2 dual eballast..........

the new 2x250watt MH ballast is now placed external.....

does it look like a time bomb........

those who have not seen a 250 watt DE holder, check this out.........

the bulb is a 250watt BLV 10kk.............

the holder is damn expensive.......... but got no choice........

after a few days of modifying my lights, now......i have a 2x250watt DE MH with a 250watt BLV 10kk bulb....

the PL lights ballast have also been replaced by eballast........

feels so good..............cant wait for it to be fired up..........

to tell u the truth, it is still very heavy..... even after removing 6 ballast.........

but not as heavy as before...... now, i can carry it down by myself..........

ca explain more bro maxima? r u refering to the plastic part of the PL tubes? or the glass tubes? caused i'm thinking to replace my PL tubes to 250W as well, only keep 2 unit of actinic PL tubes together with the MH..... dun wan my light hood to caught fire.

think i have a experience b4 my 2ft fl light casing almost melted when my mh light switch on cos i smelt the burning plastic luckly i found out early the casing just deform under the heat of the mh

what makes u so sure? my current 150watt fixture have no problem of that?

i have run the 250watt for a more than a week now and, "touch wood"..........so far so good.

if u seen those US websites, their actinic are also very close to their 250watt.
