ID organisms

Hi bro,

Need some help to identify these 2 organisms on my live rocks. Need to know if these are pest anemones?

1st photo: the organisms seem to be spreading around my live rocks quite fast.

2nd photo: this guy been there for quite long alone...so not much of a problem now.

Thanks, I thought Majono usually comes with fat tips. Those I have is rather thin tips.

When they spread, they will be your worst nightmare except for your mother-in-law....

If its only on 1 LR, the best is to throw that LR away.

IMHO Peppermint, Butterflies, Berhia etc only act as biological control and may not be able to totally eradicate.

I have tried biological control only to have them growing on hard to reach areas, I eventually tear down and bleach my entire tank and pipeworks - it is drastic but it works for me.

Damn...sound serious. It started from 1 LR but I can see them spreading to other LRs already.

In any case, I read about peppermint but they dont feed on majano. If I get butterflies, they are not reef safe... *argh* 伤脑筋 liao!

True loh, try peppermint or berghia first. I don't think you have majano yet.

Remove those LRs with more Aiptasia first to minimize spreading.

Thanks. Have removed the culprit rock so now manually killing those 1 - 2 Aiptasia on the infested rocks.

Think better get the shrimps quickly

Don't try to manually remove them, you may just be helping them spread. Anemone can clone themselves by splitting. If you try to physically remove or kill them you may just be helping them split. Fragments can get circulated by wave makers and colonize other parts of your tank!

For manual control, there're a number of options - injection with Joes juice, hot water, kalkesser, etc...

Re-posting this because really pulling my hairs off...the battle with aiptasia is not won yet.

Since brothers have helped to ID, I have tried peppermint shrimps, copperband butterfly but none of them seem to feed on them.

I tried spraying them with Tropic Marin Elimi-Aiptas but they retracted and disappeared a few days then came back on the exact same spots!

Clueless liao...what else can I do ah? Thanks!

If it is a small pcs of rock, try taking it out and soak in freshwater for a day or two.

No really...there are 2 particular pieces which are heavily infested so probably I can dip in freshwater, but isnt this going to 'kill' the rocks?

Some other rocks have 1 or 2 aiptasia here and there. I am also worried that they may be at corners which I cannot reach/see

it will kill the aiptasia and as well as the bacteria in the rock but bacteria will start building up again very soon once it is put back into the tank. So far this is one of the effective way i tried that prevent the aiptasia from growing back.

There is also some supplement in the market which can control this , maybe someone whom had tried can share . I only tried joe juice before but it doesn't really work since the aiptasia grow back on the same rock again after few week .
