Where to place my chiller pump in ios?

Hi, I'm getting a rather new 1/4hp hailea chiller from a reefer next week. Will be getting either a 800L/hr or a 1,000L/hr pump. My tank's only 90L in total. So the chiller is over-spec by a few times.

(1) Is it ok to place my chiller pump in the compartment before skimmer, and return just at the skimmer inlet?

I know it may not be ideal, as the chilled water gets churned into the skimmer before returned to the return pump, then to display tank. But this is the most practical placement for me in the limited ios I have.

(2) Or I can return the chilled water to the return pump area.

(3) Otherwise, the chiller pump will be at the same ios compartment as the return pump, and return to the same compartment.

I may be contemplating returning directly into the display tank, but I really don't want to see anymore pipings from the display point of view.

Which placements above (1)/(2)/(3) is the best placement in my situation?

Advice please?

imo

assuming you have 3 compartment

1) mechanical filtration(wool, socks) & skimmer

2) biological(biohome, lr) and/or chemical(rowa, carbon) filtration

3) chiller pump, double as return pump

last compartment instead of return, go to chiller first then return

Hey, it's a good idea!

Use the return pump to chiller first before directly back to display. Why didn't I think of it?

Hopefully I won't suffer much head loss with this setup.

The return is currently an Eheim 1250.

I can save on another pump too!

I think I must then permanently PVC-glue the joints at the bulkhead at the wall of the ios and the display area to prevent accidents. Gotta shop for double taps now.

Btw, my ios compartments are as follow.

1. Internal Algae Scrubber + a bag of biohome. (the biohome is to hold the ATS close to the tank glass, so no stray lights escapes the ATS box)

2. Protein skimmer

3. Bag of Rowaphos and a bag of activated carbon before the return pump.
