checking the water before Doing water changes or evaporation top offs.

Recommended Posts

Does anybody check the PH, temperature of the water they're about to add into their tank?

i think adding water that has different PH and temperature is supposed to be bad right,

but how do you make the Ph the same? and cause singapore weather is so hot, the water that you've been mixing outside your tank is bound to have a higher temperature than your tank.

and also are there any other parameters i should take note of? other than salinity of course and the above mentioned

If you are talking about top off water to maintain salinity, should be ok. Small amounts won't swing the parameters too far. Not suppose to add too much too fast anyway. Make sure it's distilled or ro/di water.

What about 10 to 20 %water change

Water change the salt mix you use should correct the ph Kh. If you have chiller, temp should not matter as the chiller kicks in. If not, the water should be close to the room temp, which again I quite close to the tank water temp. Salt mix water should be mixed with air pump to stabilize ph.

Tap water can be used but would have all the undesired elements in it like

Phosphate= algae

Silicate = diatoms

Chlorine = bad for all living things.
