Skimmer not producing skimmate

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm new to this hobby, hope someone can help me with this question.

I've just started a JBJ Nano Cube 28g tank with the Tunze 9002 protein skimmer in the back. LR, sand and NSW added (thanks to folks at Iwarna).

How long do I have to wait before the skimmer starts producing skimmate? I have yet to add in market prawn or fish food, but I think the cycling process should have started already...

Thanks for your help!

if there isn't any gunk in water, no foam will be there. when something die in water yr Skimmer will also start to have more foam.

if yr Skimmer does not have any foam produced, then means water clean.

I know people test the ammonia, nitrite n nitrate to see the trend up n n frm the results, estimate the tank is cycled.

for myself when I started marine, I waited abt two weeks before adding one damsel to test water. tat was in 2004.

with the current technology, can buy So many quick start bacteria in market. one reputable brand is the simi boilics, can buy frm Madpetz.
