Springeri (Dad) + Yellowtail (Mum) = ???

Caught this on video tonight - the father springeri damsel releasing the fries from the nest.

These fries were conceived with the mating between the male springeri and female yellowtail.

Too many predators in my tank and you can see the cardinal making 'supper plans'....

Off the lights and place a giant fish net over the rocks overnight, hoping to increase the survival rate...

actually, i did not net the fries. the father just release them at holes and corners, to prevent predators from reaching them. but the fries wriggle out and the cardinals went for them. i used a big net to cover the nest as much as possible to prevent predators from attacking the fries. and the father can still release them with peace.

i observed this morning that there are still some fries attached to the nest walls and hopefully, they would be safe.

i have no intentions to separate the fries from main tank and leave it to mother nature and hope the lucky ones can survive the harshness.
